A New Chapter Begins: Akshay Kumar Steps into Tollywood

Mukesh Kumar Singh’s forthcoming venture, “Kannappa,” starring Vishnu Manchu, continues to see its cast list grow, with the recent inclusion of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. This fantasy drama, rooted in mythology and centered around the revered devotee of Lord Shiva, marks Akshay’s much-anticipated debut in the Telugu film industry.

Industry tracker Ramesh Bala took to X to reveal the exciting news of Akshay Kumar’s entry into the cast of the highly anticipated pan-India project, “Kannappa.” Describing it as a prestigious venture, he highlighted Akshay’s addition as yet another grand milestone after the inclusion of stars like Prabhas, Mohanlal, Prabhu Deva, and Sarath Kumar.

 

He wrote, “Bollywood Superstar @akshaykumar joins the cast of Prestigious Pan-India Biggie – Actor @iVishnuManchu’s Big Budget movie #Kannappa. Akshay Kumar’s south Indian film journey began with the bilingual movie “Ashaant” in 1993, which released in Kannada as “Vishnu Vijaya,” marking his first venture in the region. After years, he made his Tamil debut in Shankar’s 2018 blockbuster “2.0,” starring alongside Rajinikanth. With “Kannappa,” Akshay ventures into his third south Indian project, adding another milestone to his diverse career.

“Kannappa” stands as Vishnu Manchu’s passion project, backed by Mohan Babu’s production houses AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory. Boasting a stellar ensemble cast from diverse industries, including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and others, the film promises an extravagant cinematic experience. With music by Stephen Devassy and Mani Sharma, cinematography by Sheldon Chau, and editing by Anthony, “Kannappa” unfolds its narrative against picturesque backdrops in New Zealand and Hyderabad. Originally slated to feature Kajal Aggarwal and later Nupur Sanon as female leads, the film eventually welcomed Preity Mukhundhan into the fold. Shot in Telugu with plans for multi-lingual releases, “Kannappa” emerges as a grand spectacle in the making.
