Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ Faces Eid Clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’

On Sunday, producer Boney Kapoor announced that the period sports drama “Maidaan,” featuring Ajay Devgn, is scheduled for release on Eid. Going head-to-head at the box office, the film will now compete against “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” an action thriller featuring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.

Amit Ravindernath Sharma, known for directing “Badhaai Ho,” has encountered numerous delays with the film “Maidaan” due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The movie’s most recent slated release date was February 17, 2023.

Addressing inquiries, Kapoor affirmed the alteration in the film’s release date. When questioned about the accuracy of reports suggesting that “Maidaan” would now hit theaters on April 10, coinciding with Eid, Kapoor confirmed the information.

“Maidaan,” centred around the golden era of Indian football, delves into the authentic tale of Syed Abdul Rahim, portrayed by Devgn. Rahim served as the coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until his passing in 1963.
