On Tuesday, Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani revealed that Alia Bhatt would be starring in a film within the YRF spy universe, with filming scheduled to kick off later this year.
In the expansive YRF spy universe, an ambitious franchise, characters from various films are poised to intersect and collaborate. Among the notable entries are “Tiger”, featuring Salman Khan, “War”, headlined by Hrithik Roshan, and “Pathaan”, with Shah Rukh Khan, all seamlessly woven into the intricate fabric of espionage and intrigue.
Addressing the audience at FICCI Frames, Widhani lauded the YRF spy universe as a “financial and cultural phenomenon,” hailing it as one of the studio’s most cherished intellectual properties.
“I’m about to unveil the industry’s best-kept secret: Alia Bhatt is poised to helm a spy universe film, with production slated to commence later this year… We’re genuinely elated and bursting with anticipation to welcome this IP into the studio,” Widhani exclaimed, solidifying reports surrounding the actor’s casting.
“In the vast expanse of the spy universe, expect an influx of captivating narratives. We’re set to witness a proliferation of films within this domain. As of now, I can only confirm that Alia Bhatt is set to lead one such film,” he revealed.
In the upcoming untitled film, Bhatt is poised to join forces with Sharvari Wagh, portraying formidable super-agents in this adrenaline-fueled action spectacle. Following suit, the next installment in YRF’s spy franchise, “War 2,” is set to feature Roshan, NTR Jr, and Kiara Advani, under the direction of Ayan Mukerji. Additionally, fans can anticipate the forthcoming sequels “Pathaan 2” and “Tiger vs Pathaan” in the pipeline, promising further thrills and intrigue.
