I want to do real-life characters, from real-life situations: Amit Sadh

A lot changed for Amit Sadh after he hit the cinema halls as one of the lead actors in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che!. The film marked his arrival as an actor in the film industry and celebrated filmmakers made note of his talent.

Following the hard-hitting portrayal of Omkar Shastri in the blockbuster, Sadh tried diverse genres that have added variation to his repertoire of films. But the common thread in all his projects is that the characters he picks are based on real people. Interestingly, the actor is emerging as the directors’ favourite choice for such intense roles and relatable characters.

On a relevant note, Sadh made his presence felt in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, Sarkar 3 as the volatile and temperamental Shivaji Nangre. In 2018, the actor impressed in the role of a hockey player, whose trajectory in the film was inspired by that of K. D. Singh, one of the greatest sportsmen in India. The talented actor essayed the role of a journalist who’s hellbent on discovering the truth in Super 30.

The Kai Po Che! actor maintained the streak for playing such characters as he ventured in digital entertainment. The Amazon Original series Breathe saw Sadh in the role Kabir Sawant, a Crime Branch officer who is coping with a divorce and the loss of a child. The other digital venture that had him essay the role of a regular family guy is Barot House.

In keeping with the trajectory of headlining stories about regular people, Sadh now awaits the streaming of his next digital stint, Operation Parindey. He will be seen as a Special Task Force officer on a hunt to apprehend escaped prisoners. Talking about his choice of projects, Amit says, “I’m fascinated by real people. They’re the real heroes because of their distinct problems, existence and their struggles. I find the complexity, diversity and especially the duality of such characters very captivating.”

He goes on to add, “I want to do real-life characters, from real-life situations. As an actor if you’re challenged and if you’re onto something exciting, it allows you to bring an experience of a new world to the viewers. That excitement and energy get communicated to the viewers as well. I’m grateful to the filmmakers who’ve put their trust in me. I hope that the streak continues and I get more real-life inspired roles.”

A high-octane action thriller film based on one of the most controversial jailbreaks in the history of India.  Operation Parindey release on 7th March 2020.

The actor’s exciting slate also has the highly anticipated film, Shakuntala Devi and an OTT series titled Avrodh.
