Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ Unveils Exciting New Release Date

Breaking the long-awaited news, Kamal Haasan revealed that “Indian 2” is set to grace cinema screens worldwide on July 12 after several postponements. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he excitedly shared the release date while also teasing fans with the upcoming release of the film’s first single, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, scheduled for May 22. Alongside the new release date, Haasan issued a poignant reminder, urging fans to exercise their voting rights and highlighting the pivotal role they play in shaping democracy.

Shankar’s 1996 blockbuster “Indian,” featuring Kamal Haasan alongside Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, and Kasthuri Shankar, showcased Haasan’s dual portrayal of Senapathy and Chandru—a principled father and a morally compromised son. The film narrates the tale of an ex-army man turned vigilante, determined to eradicate corruption by delivering justice to dishonest officials. AR Rahman’s iconic music for the film became a sensation, contributing significantly to its success. In Telugu, the film was titled “Bharateeyudu,” while in Hindi, it was known as “Hindustani,” captivating audiences across multiple languages.

Kamal Haasan returns to the big screen as Senapathy in “Indian 2,” joined by a stellar cast including Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh. Production faced hurdles when a mishap halted filming in 2020, followed by pandemic-related delays. However, in 2022, director Shankar resumed shooting, managing schedules between “Indian 2” and the eagerly awaited Ram Charan-Kiara Advani starrer, “Game Changer.” Originally slated for a June release, the film’s debut has now been rescheduled to hit theaters in July.
