Nikkhil Advani Starts Filming Sony LIV’s ‘Freedom at Midnight’ Series

Nikkhil Advani took to social media on Tuesday to announce the commencement of filming for Sony LIV’s upcoming political thriller series, Freedom at Midnight. The series is based on the book of the same name by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins, marking a new project for the director of Kal Ho Naa Ho.

Nikkhil Advani, the showrunner for the upcoming political thriller series Freedom at Midnight, marked the start of shooting with an Instagram post. Alongside a collage featuring a clapperboard, the book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins, the production house logo, and a snapshot of the script, Nikkhil wrote, “Freedom At Midnight by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins. Sacrifice of many. Ambition of one. Shoot Begins.”

Freedom at Midnight, drawing inspiration from the mentioned non-fiction book, will unfold the narrative from the appointment of Lord Mountbatten, the last viceroy of British India. The series is set to chronicle pivotal political events that transpired during the final year of the country’s fight for independence.

The reported conclusion of the series’ storyline will centre around the events of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and funeral in the subsequent year.

Leading the cast, the series features Chirag Vohra as Mahatma Gandhi, Sidhant Gupta portraying Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Chawla embodying Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Luke McGibney taking on the role of Lord Louis Mountbatten.

Co-produced by Studio Next, an autonomous business unit under Sony Pictures Networks India, Freedom at Midnight is set to hit the screens very soon.
