Pankaj Tripathi, adorned with two National Awards for his remarkable performances, is now set to venture into the realm of directing, aiming to add a new achievement to his illustrious career. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Tripathi unveiled his aspirations, expressing his desire for a career beyond acting. He shared his intention of exploring the director’s chair, emphasizing his broader ambitions in the industry.
“I might not be well-versed in politics, but I believe I have the potential to craft a film. If, within the span of five to 10 years, I stumble upon a compelling story, I’d certainly be inclined to step into the director’s shoes. I have a keen sense of direction; I observe repeatedly. Whether it’s hearing a sound or gazing at a landscape, I see the potential for storytelling,” stated Tripathi.
When discussing the enchantment of cinema, the actor, whose upcoming film ‘Main Atal Hoon’ is on the verge of release, expressed a deep fascination with filmmaking, particularly highlighting the captivating craft of a director.
“At its core, it’s just a person jotting down their thoughts on a piece of paper and birthing an entire world. Films encapsulate everything that can evoke laughter, tears, and deep connections within the audience. It’s truly magical,” expressed the 47-year-old actor.
Tripathi is often hailed as one of the rare actors in cinema who garners universal admiration. He’s celebrated for his daring and unconventional roles. His accolades encompass two National Awards: one for Best Supporting Actor in ‘Mimi’ and a Special Mention for ‘Newton’. His forthcoming film, ‘Main Atal Hoon,’ delves into the life of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Directed by Ravi Jadhav and scripted by Rishi Virmani and Ravi Jadhav, the movie is scheduled for a theatrical premiere on January 19.
