Samantha Finds Peace Amid Myositis Battle

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has recently opened up about her health journey, particularly highlighting the ‘extremely difficult year’ leading up to her diagnosis of myositis. Sharing her story on her YouTube channel, Samantha released the inaugural episode of her health podcast series, Take 20, where she conversed with Alkesh. Notably, Samantha disclosed that a year prior to discussing her autoimmune condition, she experienced a separation from her husband and fellow actor, Naga Chaitanya.

Samantha recounted, “The year before I faced this challenge, it was incredibly tough for me. I distinctly recall a day while traveling back from Mumbai with my friend/partner/manager Himank. It was in June of the preceding year. I remember expressing to him that I finally felt a sense of calm. It had been a while since I’d felt even a little relaxed and peaceful. For the first time, I felt like I could breathe freely, sleep peacefully, and wake up ready to focus on my work, striving to be the best version of myself professionally. Yet, it was upon waking up that I found myself grappling with this condition.”

She expanded on her motivation, stating, “The impetus behind launching this podcast stems from the harrowing journey I’ve endured. Living with an autoimmune condition is a lifelong commitment, and considering my current challenges, I believe it’s paramount for people to prioritize their health and safety. I’d rather see individuals err on the side of caution than face regrets later on.”

In the previous year, Samantha announced a hiatus from her professional commitments to prioritize her health. In 2022, ahead of the release of her film Yashoda, she disclosed her diagnosis of myositis, an autoimmune condition, via an Instagram post.

In a recent Instagram Stories video, Samantha excitedly revealed her comeback to work, stating, “I’m finally returning to work! During this break, I found myself with some free time on my hands. However, I’ve decided to embark on a fun project with a friend—a health podcast. It’s unexpected but something I truly adore and am deeply passionate about.”

Professionally, Samantha is set to share the screen with Varun Dhawan in the Indian adaptation of the hit American series Citadel, helmed by creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Notably, the international version starred Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.
