After GangubaiKathiawadi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is now all set to make his digital debut with his much-anticipated series, which is set in Lahore, the series follows the lives of the courtesans or paramour of an ancient time.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali released the first look teaser of his debut larger-than-life web series ‘Heeramandi’ on Saturday. The filmmaker on board for Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh as the leads in this eight-episode series.
Taking to Instagram, Netflix shared a glimpse of the main characters. The teaser begins with a glimpse of the actors–Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sonakshi Sinha. All the actors are seen sit next to one another. Sonakshi Sinha who stood amongst them and did a ‘salaam’.
In the caption, “Another time, another era, another magical world created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali we can’t wait to be a part of. Here is a glimpse into the beautiful and intriguing world of #Heeramandi. Coming soon!” Reacting to the clip, a person wrote, “Whoaa, excited.” “What a gorgeous cast,” said another fan. “This is going to be (fire emojis) can’t wait to watch it.”
Film-maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “Heeramandi has a special place in my heart as it has stayed withme for 14 years. The most compelling aspect of storytelling for me is the opportunity torepresent real characters, especially women, and portray their emotions with interestingnuances. The women of Heeramandi are queens in their own right, and my effort with this storyis to bring these historic characters to life with a modern approach. Netflix made this possible forus by nurturing and making an artist like me feel at home.”
Netflix also shared another video and giving a closer look of all characters as they dressed in black outfits. Captioned it, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s grandeur combined with their awe-inspiring talent and elegance. Tell us a more iconic duo, we’ll wait! #Heeramandi coming soon only on Netflix!”
The series will premiere exclusively on Netflix later this year.
