The Kashmir Files Unreported: The trailer of the sequel promises an edge over the original

Director-producer Vivek Agnihotri has recently revealed the trailer for his much-anticipated web original, “The Kashmir Files Unreported: In the Heart of Srinagar,” following the immense success of his previous film, “The Kashmir Files.” The upcoming sequel promises to be even more heart-wrenching and spine-chilling as it delves deeper into the historical, ethnical, and geopolitical aspects that led to the tragic massacre and mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley during the 1990s.

The gripping trailer opens with heartfelt interviews with historians, real-life victims, and their families. During these emotionally charged moments, many of the individuals recount their harrowing experiences, bringing forth a sense of sentimentality and empathy. The footage portrays the state of affairs that ultimately led to the abrogation of Article 370 and its far-reaching repercussions on the current state of Kashmir.

Speaking about the film, Director-Producer Vivek Agnihotri emphasized the significance of honestly telling the story of the Kashmiri genocide, a blot not only on India but on humanity as a whole. He stated that the tragic events remain one of the biggest hidden tragedies of modern times. With “The Kashmir Files” already opening people’s eyes to this issue after four years of extensive research, Agnihotri and his team aim to go even further with “The Kashmir Files Unreported,” presenting all the research and interviews in their purest and rawest form. Their intention is to compel viewers to confront the painful truth, encouraging a zero-tolerance stance against terrorism while promoting compassion and solidarity with fellow human beings.

Pallavi Joshi, the wife of Vivek Agnihotri and a key figure in the production, also shared her perspective. She mentioned that “The Kashmir Files” was a result of four years of in-depth research. The profound pain and agony experienced by the Kashmiri Pandit community left a profound impact on the filmmakers. The realization that this untold story had not been disseminated adequately by the government, administration, media, and others urged them to create a more comprehensive account. Thus, “The Kashmir Files Unreported” was born, intending to present the extensive research conducted by the team, allowing viewers to hear the unimaginable horror and terror experienced by the Kashmiri Pandits directly from their own accounts. Joshi stressed that every Indian should watch this series to understand the significance of Kashmir to India and how it remains an intrinsic part of the country.

Produced by Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi’s IamBuddha Entertainment and Media LLP, “The Kashmir Files Unreported” is a seven-part series set to premiere on ZEE5 in the near future.
