“Confluence” : Unveiled fashion for men

by Team Expresso

When a well-known audio brand teams up with a popular men’s wear fashion designer, known for his very great style sensibilities, then the result has to be a fast-paced visually swinging presentation.

boAt, the brand that wants people to plug into nirvana brought Kunal Rawal’s very exciting, young, vibrant, aspirational collection for the modern Indian man to Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019.

This show was dedicated to stylish New Age grooms who want to make a great sartorial impression as they take their Saat Pheras with the love of their life.

Giving more exciting additions to the show were boAt accessories that were effectively teamed with the garments. To stop the show, it was dashing and handsome, Arjun Kapoor in a khaki, buttoned, textured, bundgala-cum-waistcoat creation worn with dark brown trousers that had the audience applauding.

Excited with the partnership, Aman Gupta, Co-Founder boAt said, “Lakmé Fashion Week has given us the ideal platform to launch the ‘collection’ which is high on fashion, style and performance. This is the second time of us partnering with Kunal Rawal who is known for his versatile & contemporary style and same is showcased by the limited ‘boAt X Kunal Rawal’ collection. The designs by him are refreshing, inspiring and completely in sync with boAt’s philosophy.”

The ramp was decorated with black stylised cacti plants and rocks that ended in an imposing tree on the stage. The duo of live drum machine Rohan Mazumdar and Randolph Correia, guitarist kept the tempo of the beat as fast as possible, as the spirited models marched down the runway.

Kunal Rawal’s versatile special edition line called “Confluence” presented by boAt, unveiled fashion for men who are looking for adventure in their wardrobes. There were numerous design elements Kunal brought to the forefront. Sharply cut bespoke streetwear appeared with Kunal’s distinct unique motifs. Deconstruction was taken a notch higher in style; with design techniques that lifted the humble kurta to wedding wear level.

Heritage played a major role with Indian handlooms being the crux of the collection for kurta over-shifts. Craft touches were added with embroidery comprising prints and patterns.

Kunal’s edition of the rodeo grunge effects was observed in the distressed looks and layered cuts. The designer attempted to set an anti-trend but with multiple options that would allow the trendy male to make a definite fashion statement.

Fashion directions that Kunal projected featured the introduction of the mini Bundi, curved or sharp hemlines for sherwanis/bundgala jackets and added epaulettes to them to project a trendsetting look to the collection. Some of the eye-catchers were the buttonless black bundgala, a solidary dhoti/kurta/jacket entry, long soft shirt with a rear harness, a stylish hoodie, waistcoats with lapels or high slits for shirts and a reverse closure shirt.

The silhouettes were lean and fitted with the trousers being extra tight. For a more formal look the sherwanis, bundgalas and jackets appeared with discreet shimmer or some ornate tonal embroidery.

The colour card was masculine with ecru, brown, white, rust, steel/light grey, black and khaki with a solitary pale pink for a waistcoat.

The special edition men’s wear collection “Confluence” aimed at the fastidious groom and groom’s men-to-be by Kunal Rawal presented by boAt was a line that will cause excitement at Indian weddings.
