Vishal Bhardwaj, the acclaimed director, is all set to unveil his latest spy thriller, “Khufiya,” on Netflix this coming October 5. Netflix, in an Instagram post on Thursday, dropped a teaser that revealed the film’s release date.
In the teaser, we witness Tabu’s character engrossed in a covert operation as she instructs her colleague to scrutinize CCTV footage from what appears to be a hidden camera. Amidst the suspense, they communicate a confidential message via a fax machine. To everyone’s intrigue, a close-up of the fax paper unveils the film’s premiere date, October 5.
Accompanying the teaser, Netflix added a caption that teased the secrecy surrounding the film: “Kuch raaz, raaz hi rahe to behtar hai. But not this one along with eyes emoji.”
This isn’t the first time Tabu has collaborated with Vishal Bhardwaj. They previously worked together in the 2003 gangster drama “Maqbool,” where Tabu starred opposite the late Irrfan Khan. Their creative partnership continued with the 2014 crime drama “Haider,” in which Tabu portrayed the role of Haider’s mother, alongside Shahid Kapoor.
Notably, Tabu recently acted in Vishal’s son Aasman Bhardwaj’s directorial debut, “Kuttey,” further solidifying their professional relationship.
“Khufiya” is an adaptation of Amar Bhushan’s espionage novel, “Escape to Nowhere,” and boasts a stellar cast including Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ashish Vidyarthi alongside Tabu. The film promises to be an enthralling addition to the spy thriller genre.
